Giornate degli Autori: Europa Cinemas Label Jury at this year’s Venice Film Festival
2 - 12 September 2020
Four Network exhibitors from Belgium, Italy, Romania and Spain will take part in the Europa Cinemas Label Jury on the occasion of the upcoming Giornate degli Autori. The Jury members will award one film among the 8 European films out of the “Official selection” and the section “Special Events”.
The four Jury members this year are:
Octavio Alzola (Head of programming & marketing, Cines Renoir, Madrid, Spain)
Since I was a child I loved movies, my grandfather was a film geek and I´m really grateful for all the films he showed me in the cinemas. Obviously I ended up studying cinema at university and after that I entered the ECAM film school in Madrid. My first contact with cinema exhibition was in England during my university years. I entered the Cinema Society of Exeter Uni. We had to manage a cinema for the students and this was a great experience. When I came back to Spain I found a job at Cines Renoir and after a few years with different responsibilities, I assumed my actual position in 2013 as head of programming and marketing.
Silke Bomberna (Communication & Marketing, Sphinx Cinema, Ghent, Belgium)
After getting my degree in comparative literature, l realized that I preferred the movie versions after all and traded in my books for film (a joke!). I temporarily worked for the Ghent film festival, a film distributor, and a theatre company, and landed after this small odyssey at Sphinx Cinema. At our cinema, I mostly take care of communication and marketing but I also assist in programming, mainly for festivals, and I generally try to steer our programme towards young and diverse audiences.
Gabriele Ciglia (Event organizer, social media manager & projectionist, Cinema Nuovo, Varese, Italy)
I am 30 years old and I live in Varese (Italy), but I have spent most time of my life in the lovely Angera, watching the Lake Maggiore from my balcony. I graduated in Philosophy and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Milan.
After having finished the master, I spend one year in France, precisely in Britany, by participating in a European Voluntary Service project at Ciné Manivel in Redon. After this experience in France, I was looking for a job in a cinema theater in Italy and I was given a job at the cultural association Filmstudio 90. My current duties at Cinema Nuovo in Varese are event organizer, social media manager and projectionist.
Mirona Radu (Programmer & coordinator, Peasant Museum Cinema, Bucharest, Romania)
Mirona Radu has been working in the film production and distribution industry, including international film festivals for almost ten years. Since February 2019, she is programmer and coordinator of the Peasant Museum Cinema in Bucharest, Romania. Mirona has training and experience in the development of cultural knowledge and intercultural interaction. She studied Film Directing, holds a Master’s Degree in Film Production, and attended professional programs such as NEXT WAVE, Maia Workshops, CICAE Training and other art residences in China, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, and Ukraine.
