Locarno Film Festival (7 – 17 August 2024)
Presentation of the Label Jury
Four Network exhibitors from Germany, Romania, Spain and the Netherlands will take part in the Europa Cinemas Label Jury at the upcoming 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. The Jury members will award one film among the 17 European films competing in both the Concorso internazionale and Concorso Cineasti del presente.
The four EC Label Jury members are:
Ramiro Ledo Cordeiro (Founder and director, DUPLEX Cinema, Ferrol, Spain)
Ramiro Ledo Cordeiro is the manager and programming director of DUPLEX Cinema and the president of Promio, an association that unites Spanish independent exhibitors known for their strong emphasis on European and third-country films. His contributions to the film industry earned him the Entrepreneur of the Year award in Europe 2020 by Europa Cinemas. Since January 2021, Ramiro has also been leading the distribution company Atalante.
Camelia Popa (Programmer and film director, Cinema Muzeul Taranului, Bucharest, Romania)
Camelia Popa graduated from the Faculty of Film and TV Directing in Bucharest in 2000. She dedicated the first 11 years of her career to television productions, directing a series of films and TV series including "#school" (Netflix, comedy), "Vlad" (ProTV, action), and "One Step Forward" (ProTV, drama). After this period, she returned to cinema, where she directed and produced several feature films. Her notable works include "Girls Stuff" (romantic comedy, director & executive producer), "SNUPD" (black comedy, director & producer), "Pup-o, ma 2! Crazy Bride" (comedy, director & producer), and "Pup-o, ma!" (comedy, director & executive producer).
Mila Schlingemann (Senior programmer, Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
Mila Schlingemann is a senior programmer at Eye, the national museum for film and the art of moving image in the Netherlands. Eye is renowned for storing, restoring, and presenting a wide array of films, ranging from classics and blockbusters to early avant-garde films and the latest VR experiments. Mila is responsible for all new releases and related special programming. Her role includes organizing special evenings and talks with filmmakers and artists, as well as curating side programming for debuting filmmakers and iconic classic cinema.
Marvin Wiechert (Strategy advisor, Yorck Kinogruppe, Berlin, Germany)
Marvin Wiechert is an expert on digital strategies for arthouse cinemas and films. With a strong background in marketing, Marvin has worked at renowned distributors such as DCM and MUBI, and at exhibitors Zebra Kino and Yorck Kinogruppe. Currently, Marvin serves as a strategy advisor at Yorck Kinogruppe, focusing on the integration of AI and future technologies in the cinema industry.

The Europa Cinemas Label will be awarded on Saturday, 17 August at 5.00pm during the Award Ceremony for Independent Juries at the Forum Spazio Cinema located next to the Palexpo FEVI (Via Alla Peschiera 9, 6600 Locarno).
