Collaborate to innovate

"Connecting the heritage cinemas of Europe!" brings together 5 cinemas and aims to promote the history, cultural value and community importance of Europe's oldest cinemas, from their founding to the present day.

Convinced that the cinematic experience in heritage buildings is unique because of the particular atmosphere that characterizes these places, the partners of this project intend to enhance these places, through new tools, to design the cinema of the future.

This project includes 3 main activities. First, an online platform bringing together the partner cinemas is developed. This platform is built around an online map locating the cinemas, with descriptions of the cinemas complemented by documents and video testimonies showing the link between the communities and the cinemas, as well as virtual tours allowing to explore the cinemas of the project and their evolution through time.  In addition, a special program of classic European films is offered by each of the partner cinemas. These films are contextualized and accompanied by discussions about their connection with the participating venues and their importance in the history of cinema.  Finally, film screenings and activities for young audiences are organized in order to introduce them to the cinematic heritage in an innovative way.
